My Favorite Cold-Busting Tea
While warm weather is playing ‘hard to get’, my body is feeling majorly confused. It is spring? Is it winter? Every time we have a cold snap after a 70-degree day, I imagine Mother Nature strutting in a red jumpsuit a la Britney Spears...Oops, I did it again.
But seriously, warm and comforting yet mighty enough to pack a punch, this tea is my all time favorite way to stay well during any season. Since it doubles as a great digestive aid, my love to make this tea right after dinner or before bed.
Let’s talk about the ingredients real quick.
Lemon: Packed with vitamin C and incredibly alkalizing.
Ginger: Anti-viral and anti-inflammatory.
Cayenne: Anti-fungal, anti-irritant (great for coughs and such), and anti-cold/flu, cayenne is great for breaking up mucus and soothing the throat.
Raw Honey: Soothing for your throat and anti-bacterial.
Juice of 1 lemon
1 thumb of ginger, sliced
1-2 dashes cayenne pepper
1-2 Tbsp raw honey
8 oz boiling water
While waiting for the water to come to a boil, combine the lemon juice, cayenne, and honey in your mug.
Take your ginger and put it in a tea ball, or simply toss it into your mug as is.
Pour boiling water over the contents of your mug and stir well.
Cozy up on the couch and enjoy!
